Natural Capitalism is, in my opinion, one of the best frameworks for sustainability. I really like the emphasis on acting now – natural capitalism reminds us that we do not need to wait for new technologies to make a difference, that there is work that can be done with the resources we have now (pg 87). I think that Natural Capitalism is a framework that is very realist, it sees the world as it is and seeks to work within that framework, unlike some other frameworks that are more idealistic. This isn’t to say that is is not important to ascribe to the ideals of other frameworks, like the goal of no waste in the Cradle to Cradle framework. As mentioned in the reading, Natural Capitalism can be seen as a stop on the road towards another, more idealistic framework (pg 89). It is important to have both idealism to work towards bettering the future and realism that can help us to better the here and now.
